Grandma Tea Parties Full of Love, Legacy & Laughter
Relaxing and playing doesn’t always come naturally to me. I’m someone who likes to stay busy, accomplish things, and keep moving. But when my granddaughters ask me to play, I want to say yes with my whole heart, without my mind racing through a list of everything else I should do.
I wanted to truly connect with them and I wanted to play.
I just needed a way to slow my thoughts so I could be present.
So one afternoon, I pulled out a few teacups.
We found a simple recipe, gathered a few odds and ends from around the house, and started what would become our very first Grandma Tea Party.
And something wonderfully fun and meaningful happened.
The girls squealed with delight picking out their own teacups. They felt so fancy slipping on dollar-store feather boas and sparkly rings. We made paper bonnets out of butcher paper and decorated them with crayons, glitter, and stickers.
Then we nibbled on bite-sized sliders and sipped sparkling drinks in our “fancy” cups. Even Grandpappy joined in, lifting his pinky high as I read Fancy Nancy: Tea Parties, and the girls giggled at Grandpappys exaggerated elegance.

Having so much fun Grandpappy wanted in
There was something magical about tying on our homemade bonnets drinking out of those fancy teacups. Stories started flowing, and without even realizing it, we were building something much bigger than an afternoon teaparty.
We were building:
- Connection
- Joy
- Memories
- Traditions
- Stories
That’s when I knew monthly Lala (my Grandma name) Tea Parties were a must!
